Tom Price, geboren in London, lebt und arbeitet seit vielen Jahren auf Mallorca. Er möchte Kunstwerke und immersive Erlebnisse schaffen, die Menschen auf mehreren Ebenen verbinden. Die Entwicklung jedes Kunstwerks basiert auf starken konzeptionellen Grundlagen, die aus seinem Interesse am menschlichen Zustand und der physischen Welt um uns herum resultieren.

Materialien spielen eine grundlegende Rolle bei der Ergänzung des erzählerischen Inhalts von Toms Werken – viele davon basieren stark auf dem Zufall als Werkzeug, um unerwartete Ergebnisse zu fördern. Der Einsatz des Zufalls ermöglicht es ihm, die Grenzen seiner eigenen Vorstellungskraft zu überschreiten.

Basierend auf seinem Hintergrund im Design untersucht Tom oft, wie sich die Wahrnehmung eines Kunstwerks verändern kann, wenn es als Ort zum Sitzen oder Spielen genutzt wird, und stellt damit traditionelle Vorstellungen davon, was eine Skulptur sein sollte oder sein könnte, infrage.

Tom Price aims to create artworks and immersive experiences that connect with people on multiple levels. Strong conceptual foundations underpin the development of each artwork, stemming from his interests in the human condition and the physical world around us.

Materials play a fundamental role in augmenting the narrative content of Tom’s work – much of which relies heavily on chance as a tool to encourage unexpected outcomes. Employing chance in this way allows him to transcend the limits of his own imagination.

Drawing on a background in design, Tom often investigates ways in which the perception of an artwork can change when used as a place to sit or play, challenging traditional ideas of what a sculpture should or could be.

Tom Price vive y trabaja en Mallorca desde hace años, aunque nació en Londres. Su meta es crear obras de arte y experiencias inmersivas que unan a las personas a varios niveles. El desarrollo de cada una de sus obras se basa en principios conceptuales sólidos, que resultan de su interés por la condición humana y el mundo físico que nos rodea.

Los materiales desempeñan un papel básico para completar el contenido narrativo de las obras de Tom, muchas de las cuales se fundamentan en gran medida en el azar como herramienta para llegar a resultados imprevistos. El uso del azar le permite superar los límites de su propia capacidad imaginativa.

Basándose en su experiencia previa en el ámbito del diseño, con frecuencia Tom investiga sobre cómo puede variar la percepción de una obra de arte cuando se utiliza como un sitio para sentarse o para jugar, cuestionando así las ideas tradicionales sobre lo que debería ser o podría ser una escultura.
