Mein ganzes Leben als Konzeptkünstler habe ich versucht, diesen weltweiten Ruf nach Freiheit sichtbar zu machen, denn auf der ganzen Welt sollte es nur ein moralisches, ethisches und religiöses Konzept geben, das Leitmotiv allen individuellen und politischen Handelns und das ist:

Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar.

„Ein Künstler bewegt sich immer im Spannungsfeld zwischen Zeit, Raum und Individuum und seiner ihm eigenen kreativen Ausdrucksform“. Dörte Wehmeyer hat dazu den „Garden of Tolerance“ geschaffen, eine ständige Ausstellung zum Thema Gewalt und Menschlichkeit, ein Thema, das heute aktueller denn je ist. Konzeptionell ist der Garten als „Work in progress“ angelegt, der ständig verändert, ergänzt oder erweitert wird. Das riesige Kunstareal der Installationskünstlerin besteht aus einem begehbaren Labyrinth aus Stahlwänden, Installationen und einer Höhle von 400 qm. Sie selbst bezeichnet sich als politische Künstlerin, bereits zum zweiten Mal wurde sie zur Biennale in Venedig eingeladen. Der „Garden of Tolerance“ ist zweimal jährlich für Besucher geöffnet.

„Kunst drückt aus, was nicht in Worte zu kleiden ist, aber zu wichtig ist, um es in Schweigen zu hüllen“. Seit fast drei Jahrzehnten arbeitet die Künstlerin an ihren Mahnmalen für Freiheit und Frieden und setzt so Spuren im unablässigen Kampf und Wahrheit und Gerechtigkeit. Ihre bevorzugten Materialien sind Steine, Eisen, Glas und Kohle, die sie mit Fotografien, Spiegeln und Papier verarbeitet. Auch die Arbeit mit Worten ist der Psycholinguistin wichtig: an der Wand hat sie einige ideologische Begriffe in Stein gemeißelt, die für sie Grund für Kriege und Leid sind. Wehmeyer hat ein Institut für Unternehmenskommunikation geführt und 15 Jahre in den USA gelebt.
Doerte Wehmeyer lebt und arbeitet seit 2010 in Cala Llombards.

“Un artista siempre se mueve en el campo de tensión entre el tiempo, el espacio y el individuo y su propia forma creativa de expresión”. Dörte Wehmeyer creó el “Jardín de la Tolerancia”, una exposición permanente sobre el tema de la violencia y la humanidad, un tema que hoy es más relevante que nunca. Conceptualmente, el jardín está diseñado como un “trabajo en progreso” que se modifica, complementa o amplía constantemente. La enorme zona artística del artista de la instalación se compone de un laberinto de paredes de acero, instalaciones y una cueva de 400 metros cuadrados. Se describe a sí misma como una artista política y ha sido invitada por segunda vez a la Bienal de Venecia. El „Jardín de la Tolerancia“ está abierto a los visitantes dos veces al año.

„El arte expresa lo que no se puede expresar con palabras pero que es demasiado importante para guardarlo en silencio“. La artista lleva casi tres décadas trabajando en sus monumentos por la libertad y la paz, dejando su huella en la lucha incesante por la verdad y la justicia. Sus materiales preferidos son piedras, hierro, vidrio y carbón, que procesa con fotografías, espejos y papel. Para la psicolingüista también es importante trabajar con palabras: en una pared ha recogido términos escritos en piedras que, para ella, son la razón de las guerras y del sufrimiento. Wehmeyer trabajó durante mucho tiempo en el ámbito del asesoramiento empresarial y vivió durante 15 años en EE.UU.

“An artist always moves in the field of tension between time, space and the individual and his own creative form of expression.” Dörte Wehmeyer created the “Garden of Tolerance”, a permanent exhibition on the topic of violence and humanity, a topic that is more relevant today than ever. Conceptually, the garden is designed as a “work in progress” that is constantly being changed, supplemented or expanded. The installation artist‘s huge art area consists of a walk-in labyrinth made of steel walls, installations and a 400 square meter cave. She describes herself as a political artist and has been invited to the Venice Biennale for the second time. The “Garden of Tolerance” is open to visitors twice a year.

“Art expresses what cannot be put into words but is too important to be shrouded in silence.” The artist has been working on her memorials for freedom and peace for almost three decades, leaving her mark in the relentless struggle for truth and justice. Her preferred materials are stones, iron, glass and charcoal, which she processes with photographs, mirrors and paper. Working with words is also important to the psycholinguist: on a wall she has collected terms on stones that, for her, are the reason for wars and suffering. Wehmeyer worked in business consulting for a long time and lived in the USA for 15 years.
