Xisco Fuentes‘ Gabe, die Welt zu betrachten, lassen ihn Werke von präziser Realität, aber auch Stillleben schaffen, die den Betrachter sofort in seinen Bann ziehen. Er begann mit der Malerei von Architektur, mit exakten Zeichnungen, die genau der Realität der gebauten Werke entsprachen. Auch heute noch sind seine Bilder von Türen, Briefkästen oder Fensterläden verblüffend real. Linien, Schatten, scheinbar unbelebte Objekte, die er aus der Realität einfängt, erweckt er durch seine Pinselstriche zum Leben. Seine Werke vereinen eine neue Sichtweise auf Architektur und Industriedesign und schaffen es dennoch, eine Kombination von persönlichen und rationalen Empfindungen auszudrücken und die von ihm wahrgenommene Realität in ihrer ganzen Intensität auf der Leinwand auszudrücken. Er schafft faszinierende Einblicke in scheinbar längst Vergessenes – Menschen, Gebäude, Gegenstände hält er in unverwechselbarer Weise fest. In seinen Bildern taucht man ein in ein echtes, fast vergangenes Mallorca, in Ecken, die die Städte längst vergessen haben, hier ein Schornstein, dort eine Kiste, eine Schale mit Obst, ein Anker..

Er ist seit seinem achten Lebensjahr auf Mallorca ansässig und gilt mittlerweile als Schlüsselfigur der Stadtlandschaftsmalerei der Insel. Die zentralen Themen Fuentes sind Stadtlandschaften, Industriebauten, eine Eisenbahnserie und schließlich berührende Porträts. Neben der Malerei ist Fuentes auch Poet und schreibt.

Xisco Fuentes’ gift for observing the world around him allows him to create works of precise reality, but also still lifes that immediately captivate. Architecture forms the motif of his early paintings, whereby he uses precise brush strokes that correspond exactly to the reality of the built works. His paintings of doors, letterboxes and shutters remain astonishingly realistic to this day. He manages to bring the lines, shadows and seemingly inanimate objects he portrays to life with his brush strokes. His work captures a new perspective on architecture and industrial design and expresses a whole range of personal and rational sensations and the reality he perceives in all its intensity on canvas. He offers fascinating insights into things seemingly long forgotten, showing people, buildings and objects in ways that are entirely unique. Viewers are immersed in a real, almost lost Mallorca; in places that the towns have long since abandoned – here a chimney, there a crate, bowl of fruit or anchor.

Fuentes has lived on Mallorca since the age of eight and is today considered a leading figure for urban landscape painting on the island. His motifs include urban landscapes, industrial buildings, an entire series on the railway and vivid portraits. Fuentes is not only a talented artist, but also a poet and author.

El don de Xisco Fuentes para observar el mundo le permite crear obras de una realidad precisa, pero también naturalezas muertas que cautivan inmediatamente al espectador. Empezó pintando arquitectura, con dibujos precisos que correspondían exactamente a la realidad de las obras construidas. Aún hoy, sus pinturas de puertas, buzones y contraventanas son extraordinariamente reales. Sus pinceladas dan vida a líneas, sombras y objetos aparentemente inanimados que capta de la realidad. Sus obras aúnan una nueva perspectiva de la arquitectura y el diseño industrial, a la vez que consiguen expresar una combinación de sensaciones personales y racionales y plasman en el lienzo la realidad que percibe en toda su intensidad. Crea imágenes fascinantes de cosas aparentemente olvidadas hace mucho tiempo: capta personas, edificios y objetos de una manera inconfundible. Sus cuadros nos trasladan a una Mallorca real, casi pasada, a rincones que las ciudades han olvidado hace tiempo, una chimenea aquí, una caja allá, un frutero, un ancla.

Ha vivido en Mallorca desde que tenía ocho años y ahora se le considera una figura clave de la pintura de paisaje urbano en la isla. Los temas centrales de Fuentes son los paisajes urbanos, los edificios industriales, una serie ferroviaria y, por último, retratos conmovedores. Además de pintor, Fuentes es poeta y escritor.
